The rabbi's tomb in the town of Uman is one of the most popular religious pilgrimage sites in Judaism, drawing tens of thousands of visitors a year.

Two Israelis were taken to a hospital for medical treatment, a witness told Israeli news site Ynet.

The perpetrators arrived shouting anti-Semitic slurs and threw the pig's head, with a swastika carved on it, into the main hall of tomb compound, according to witnesses.

Photos taken by witnesses showed the pig's head and red paint splashed all over the room.

Rabbi Yisrael Elhadad, the sexton of the synagogue at the compound, told media that the attackers were neo-Nazis.

No arrests were reported.

Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said he planned to speak with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko regarding the incident, Israel's Channel 2 reported.

Thousands of Jewish pilgrims arrive each year in Uman on the Jewish New Year to visit the grave site of the Breslover Hasidic movement’s founder, Rabbi Nachman, who died in 1810.
