Turkish authorities are searching for an Israeli teenager who has been reported missing in Istanbul where he was on a trip with family members.

Ahmed al-Assam, 19, from the Tel Sheva Bedouin community in southern Israel, did not return to the Istanbul hotel room where he was staying with family members on Wednesday and has not been heard from since, according to reports.

His father appealed to Turkish authorities for help locating his son and traveled to Istanbul this week to help with the search.

Israel's Foreign Ministry said that the Israeli consulate in Istanbul is in contact with both the teen's family and with Turkish authorities.
