A Palestinian man who was arrested for working illegally in Israel admitted to police during an interrogation that he had been planning to carry out a stabbing attack, police said Thursday.

The man, a West Bank resident born in 1996, was detained at a Tel Aviv construction site where he had been working without a permit. His arrest came as part of an operation against employers of illegal Palestinian workers.

Police said the suspect, whose identity was not publicized, admitted during questioning that he had planned to buy a knife "to stab Jews."

He will appear at Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for a hearing to remand his custody, police said.
