An IDF soldier was killed and three others were injured when their jeep overturned during an operational patrol near the southern Gaza Strip border on Saturday.

Two of the injured soldiers were in serious condition and a third was lightly wounded, the army said in a statement.

The soldiers were evacuated to hospital and their families have been notified of the incident.

The deceased soldier was later identified as 20-year-old Yuval Mena, from the Giv'atayim suburb of Tel Aviv.

It was not immediately clear what caused the jeep to overturn.

The incident is under investigation by both a special military committee and military police.
