Israel: Border police officer lightly injured after terrorist opens fire in Jerusalem's Old City
Israeli Border Police officers were standing near Jerusalem's Lion Gate when the shooter approached
Israeli police shot dead a terrorist who opened fire on officers in Jerusalem's Old City on Thursday, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP.
"A terrorist opened fire at a border policeman. One policeman was injured lightly in the shooting," Rosenfeld said, adding that the assailant was then "shot and killed" by police.
Israeli Border Police officers were standing near Jerusalem's Lion Gate when the shooter approached and opened fire. Police responded by firing back at the terrorist and neutralizing him, according to a police spokesman.
Meanwhile, Israel's caretaker Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a car-ramming incident that injured 12 Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem early Thursday.
“On behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded soldiers,” the prime minister said.
“It’s only a matter of time, and not a lot of time, until we get our hands on the culprit. Terrorism will not defeat us, we will win,” he added.
