A Palestinian man was arrested on Thursday morning at the entrance at the entrance to Kokhav Ya’akov, a settlement located in the northern portion of the West Bank.

The suspect was originally spotted by a firefighter nearby who informed the police of a “suspicious” subject. Members from the Israel Police Special Patrol Unit arrived soon thereafter, responding to the call and succeeded in detaining the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene.

After conducting a routine search, the officers found in the bag that was carried by the suspect, a copy of the Quran as well as two weapons including a knife and a meat cleaver. The suspect was then immediately taken in for a further investigation where he admitted his plan to conspire in carrying out a terror attack.

The suspect also said that while the bag he was carrying did not belong to him, the weapons were going to be used in a terror attack.
