Death toll at 5,856
Israel recorded 3,716 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported on Saturday. 105,467 screening tests were conducted, returning a positivity rate of 3.6%.
As of Saturday night, Israel had 40,565 active cases of the virus, including 710 people in serious condition and 234 on artificial lung ventilation.
5,856 Israelis died of the virus since the start of the pandemic over a year ago.
Nearly 5,000,000 people received the first dose of the vaccine as part of the country's record-setting vaccination drive, and over 3.7 million received both doses.
On Sunday large swathes of the economy will reopen after the government eased more health restrictions imposed during the third nation-wide lockdown.
