Israel's Health Ministry records the country's 6,000th coronavirus death
Grim figure arrives in wake of country's easing of lockdown restrictions

Israel on Sunday passed the grim mark of 6,000 Covid-19 deaths, updated data of the Health Ministry showed.
The latest figure of 6,008 deaths comes in the wake of the country's further easing of lockdown restrictions, as large sections of the economy reopened last week.
In light of Israel's mass-scale vaccination campaign, morbidity rates have dropped over the last several weeks, with the Health Ministry showing that less than 10 percent of Covid-19 hospitalized patients were fully vaccinated.
There are currently 640 patients hospitalized in serious condition, including 221 on artificial respirators -- a slight increase from the previous day.
In total, there are 27,974 active infections in the country and the test positive ratio stands at 2.9 percent.
More than 5.1 million people received at least one dose, and among them more than 4.1 million received two, as Israel maintained its status as the world's leading country in vaccinations per capita.
