Former US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley took a jab at the Democratic party Monday night, saying Democrats were the only ones lamenting the death of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.

In her interview for Fox News, she praised President Trump for his resolve in authorizing the Baghdad drone strike that killed Soleimani, the commander of the elite Quds force, and his key ally in Iraq.

"You don't see anyone standing up for Iran. You're not hearing any of the Gulf members. You're not hearing China. You're not hearing Russia," Haley said, claiming that Democrats were the only ones decrying his death.

The Democratic leaders have so far been split in their response to the US strike, questioning the legitimacy of the attack -- and Trump's awareness of its possible consequences.

In his statement shortly after Soleimani's death, Joe Biden said that Quds commander deserved to be brought to justice, while also adding that Trump "just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox."

In a similar vein, Elisabeth Warren condemned Soleimani as a murderer, while also saying that the strike was a reckless move.

Bernie Sanders criticized the attack as a dangerous escalation that could bring about a war with Iran -- a war where working-class kids, not billionaires, will be killed.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday sent a letter to Democratic members of Congress announcing the House will introduce and vote on a "War Powers Resolution to limit the President's military actions regarding Iran" amid rising tension, according to CNN.
