US media project Arizona win for Biden; Trump calls for vote audit
Presumptive President-elect only second Democrat to win traditionally Republican state in 7 decades

Presumptive US President-elect Joe Biden was projected Friday by US media to the Electoral College vote of Arizona after more than a week of ballots counting.
With Arizona turning blue, Biden is now projected to win a total of 290 electoral votes, as US President Donald Trump trails far behind with 217.
Biden is also winning the popular vote with 77,491,345 votes to Trump’s 72,307,888. While the Democrat leads his rival by more than 5.3 million votes, both candidates received record-high numbers of votes in the history of US presidential elections.
According to news agency Reuters, Biden will become only the second Democrat presidential candidate in seven decades to win the traditionally Republican state of Arizona.
Despite Biden’s favorable numbers, the incumbent Republican has been unwilling to concede defeat, claiming wide voting irregularities have tipped the balance over to the Democrats.
Taking to Twitter, Trump contested the Arizona projections, writing “From 200,000 votes to less than 10,000 votes. If we can audit the total votes cast, we will easily win Arizona also!”

Trump’s campaign has filed lawsuits in several states challenging the vote counts, but some of them have already been struck down by judges.
According to Reuters, Trump’s refusal to accept a defeat has stalled the process of transitioning to a new administration.
