FM Sa’ar joins US-led critical minerals conference in Washington
Sa’ar attended the Critical Minerals Conference in Washington this week, a US-led initiative to secure global supply chains for strategic minerals to advanced industries and national security

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar represented Israel this week at the Critical Minerals Conference in Washington, a high-level international event attended by representatives from 55 countries and senior officials from the U.S. administration.
The conference was initiated by the United States and chaired by Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Hosted under the aegis of the U.S. Department of State, the conference brought together government ministers and industry leaders from the critical minerals sector—key resources essential for advanced industries and strategic technologies. Discussions focused on securing global supply chains amid rising geopolitical tensions and growing dependency on limited mineral sources.
Invited personally by Secretary Rubio, Sa’ar held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines, including talks with his counterparts from Uzbekistan, South Korea, India, and Bolivia. These discussions addressed cooperation in securing stable mineral supplies and strategic industrial collaboration.
In a statement following the conference, Sa’ar praised the U.S. initiative as a “major strategic move” aimed at creating a global framework to ensure reliable access to critical minerals. He said the effort seeks to safeguard supply chains from extraction to end-product, strengthen international stability, and mitigate vulnerabilities threatening the sector.
