Iran escalated its rhetoric against the United States on Tuesday, issuing a direct warning to Donald Trump while announcing measures that could severely disrupt Middle Eastern oil exports.

Tehran said it would block oil shipments to countries it considers hostile, declaring that “not a single drop of oil” would leave the region for those states until further notice.

Ali Larijani responded sharply to warnings issued a day earlier by Trump. In a message posted on X, Larijani wrote that attempts to defeat Iran had failed in the past and warned the U.S. president to “be careful not to get eliminated yourself.”

The statement followed Trump’s threat to strike Iran “harder” if it continued actions that disrupt the flow of oil in the region.

Separately, Ali Mohammad Naini said Iranian forces would prevent oil exports to what he described as “the enemy camp and its partners.” According to Naini, no shipments would be allowed to leave the region while the confrontation continues.

The warnings come amid rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit routes. Roughly one-fifth of globally traded oil and liquefied natural gas passes through the waterway each day.

Any prolonged disruption to traffic through the strait could trigger a sharp spike in oil prices and have immediate consequences for global energy markets and the wider economy.
