US President Donald Trump addressed the nation late Saturday, marking America's 250th anniversary, speaking to a crowd in Washington that returned to the National Mall after a two-hour evacuation due to stormy weather.
Trump called the country "the most incredible nation ever to exist on the face of the earth," saying, "For two and a half centuries, our American Republic has stood as the crowning achievement of human history."
Trump warned that communism had "reared its ugly head right back here in America" and comparing it to a cancer that "you got to cut it out fast." "Communism is a loser, and it always will be. The communist system is the opposite of the American system," he said.
The US president also touted his administration's military record, including claiming he had "sunk Iran's entire navy." "The Stars and Stripes cast the hammer and sickle into oblivion before, and we will do it again if necessary," Trump said.
