Taylor Swift songs removed from Trump campaign, White House social media posts

Taylor Swift's songs have been removed from social media videos posted by President Trump's campaign and the White House after appearing in TikTok posts over the past week. Swift has not spoken recently about Trump, though she endorsed his 2024 Democratic rival, then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Swift, writing "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" after her endorsement and later posting, "Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'"

The Trump campaign used two Swift songs on its TikTok page over the past week. One featured the caption, "Red (Donald Trump's Version). Red (Taylor Swift Wrote A Whole Album About Republicans)," referencing several of Swift's songs. A White House TikTok video posted four days earlier also used a Swift song, "August," over footage of Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks, captioned, "Mood because it's August and Donald Trump is your president," along with the message, "I'm sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!"

By Saturday, the audio had been removed, replaced with a message reading, "This sound isn't available."

The Trump campaign responded by posting a mock-up of Swift's "Red" album cover featuring Trump in his MAGA cap, captioned, "Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party." That track was also later removed from the account, with a message stating the copyright owner had not made the sound available.

Dozens of artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have called on the Trump administration not to use their songs. The communications team has previously posted videos featuring hit songs alongside images of Trump's immigration crackdown, US military operations against Iran, and the arrest of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
