Trump: Iran war going to be ended soon, and if it starts up again they'll be hit even harder

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said the war in the Middle East could be over soon, though underscoring that the U.S. will not settle for a hostile regime in Tehran, after having eliminated several tiers of the Islamic Republic's leadership. 

"We don't want another president that wouldn't be willing to do what I'm willing to do for the good of the world, for the good of our nation," he said in a televised address from Florida. "To be stuck with this situation in five years or ten years from now."

"The war will be over soon, not this week but very soon. Everything they have is gone including their leadership," he said, pointing out that the senior command of the Islamic Republic were eliminated twice over since the start of the war ten day ago. "Most people have never even heard about the leaders they're talking about." 

With Iran's missile capabilities "down to 10%, maybe less," and a 83% drop in Iranian drone launches, the U.S.-Israeli operation was stunningly ahead of schedule, Trump said. “We can leave it here, but we are going to go further.”

Trump also pledged to hit hard Iran’s electricity production sites if Tehran keeps blocking global oil supply, though specified that this was a last resort option. 

“We’ve left some of the most important targets for later, in case we need to do it. If we hit those targets, it’s going to take many years for them to be rebuilt. The targets have to do with electricity production and many other things. We’re not looking to do that if we don’t have to,” Trump said.
