US designates Palestine Action as a global terrorist organization
Treasury Secretary Bessent presented this decision as a new step in the Trump administration's fight against what it calls "far-left terrorism"

The United States on Wednesday added the British group Palestine Action to its list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists, the Treasury Department announced.
The designation freezes any assets the group may hold under US jurisdiction and generally prohibits American citizens and companies from conducting transactions with it.
Palestine Action was banned in the United Kingdom in 2025 under anti-terrorism legislation. The group is known for targeting defense companies with ties to Israel, particularly facilities operated by Elbit Systems, as well as for entering British military sites.
The US Treasury accused Palestine Action of carrying out violent and destructive acts since 2020, injuring law-enforcement officers and encouraging supporters abroad to adopt similar tactics. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the designation as another step in the Trump administration’s campaign against what it calls “far-left terrorism.”
The British ban remains subject to a legal challenge. The UK Supreme Court is expected to hear an appeal in November against the government’s decision to designate Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.
Washington also imposed sanctions on Masar Badil, which the Treasury described as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The PFLP is already designated by the United States as a terrorist organization.
