IDF Chief of Staff launches surprise multi-front readiness exercise | LIVE BLOG
The IDF launched a surprise Chief of the General Staff's exercise on Sunday, codenamed "Breaking Dawn 2.0," to assess the military's readiness for a sudden, complex, multi-front scenario


Over the weekend, the IDF says it cleared a Hezbollah underground tunnel network at the Ali al-Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military says its 36th Division completed clearing and neutralizing two underground routes on Sunday, achieving operational control of the ridge above and below ground, killing some terrorists and forcing others to flee. According to the IDF, the tunnels were built over two decades by Hezbollah's Badr Unit with funding and planning from Iran, and contained command centers, weapons storage, generator rooms, living quarters, and even a kitchen.
Meanwhile, Israel’s elections are heating up as opposition leader Yair Lapid unveiled the Yesh Atid party’s 15-candidate list ahead of a joint ticket with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s BeYachad party. Yesh Atid candidates will make up roughly 40% of the BeYachad list, which is expected to be unveiled on Sunday by Bennett. Lapid said the list reflects a deliberate generational shift, with several veteran lawmakers stepping aside from Knesset seats while remaining active in the party and the coming campaign. Ordered by Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the drill is testing General Headquarters and main headquarters operations, the mobilization of standby forces and reserves, and decision-making across regional commands, branches, and directorates ahead of the upcoming holiday season
Commanders were called up without warning as forces mobilized and reserves were assessed, with Zamir overseeing the exercise from the Supreme Command Post and from the field
