The deadline for Israeli political parties to submit their candidate lists has finally arrived and Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party has made its submission. At 40 candidates, the list is one of the longest and is filled with a mix of legacy politicians and new faces. Eisenkot tops the list, with Yoram Cohen as the list's number 2. In a surprise merger, Hili Tropper joined Yashar as number 6 only a day after having split from The Reservists party with Yoaz Hendel. Eisenkot's list is heavily focused on security, but each member represents a different sector of Israeli society.
Meanwhile, tensions in Yemen are boiling over as Saudi-aligned Yemeni forces successfully clashed with the Houthis in a deadly offensive that killed 300 people. Monday’s encounter follows a Houthi strike on Thursday against government forces that killed over 120 people. The initial Houthi offensive was largely repelled and they made few gains; meanwhile, government counterattacks bore fruit on Monday as they made breakthroughs on the coast and in the northern deserts.
