A new Washington Post report claims that an Iranian threat to assassinate Trump triggered a secret operation in which he left Turkey on a different plane while officials said he was on Air Force One
In a Truth Social post, US President Donald Trump has demanded compensation from Iran for the damage done to the US and “for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous, as led initially by General Soleimani, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole, and thousands of others killed in combat.” Trump says the compensations should be paid to the families of protesters killed by the Islamic regime in Iran over the last 50 years and to the 52,000 that have been killed in the last five months. This follows Iranian calls for the US to compensate them for damages done in the last five months. Trump says this demand from Iran was never mentioned in any of their past negotiations or meetings.
Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei allegedly announced, for the first time, appointments for senior positions, including IRGC commander & army chief. Major General Ali Abdollahi will become the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces while Major General Ahmad Vahidi will be Commander of the IRGC. This announcement followed a statement from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who claimed to have met with Khamenei for a 7-hour meeting, despite the Supreme Leader not being seen in public since the beginning of the war. A new Washington Post report claims that an Iranian threat to assassinate Trump triggered a secret operation in which he left Turkey on a different plane while officials said he was on Air Force One. The mission was carried out without the knowledge of the journalists and some White House staff members who were on board the presidential plane.
In Ankara, Trump reportedly boarded the old Air Force One jumbo jet in view of television cameras. He was secretly shuttled minutes later to a smaller plane, an Air Force C-32A, via an airport catering truck typically used to load meals and other preflight supplies.
