Report: Pakistan’s military chief heads to Tehran as Islamabad presses mediation effort
Munir is expected to hold talks with senior Iranian officials during the visit

Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, has departed for Tehran on Friday as Islamabad has ratcheted up its mediation efforts between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the regional war, Iranian state media reported.
IRNA, citing a senior diplomatic source in Islamabad, says Munir is expected to hold talks with senior Iranian officials during the visit.
His trip comes as Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi is holding a third consecutive day of meetings in Tehran, according to the Iranian state news agency.
Munir had initially been expected to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Thursday, but that visit was postponed. It is not immediately clear whether the rescheduled trip will include talks with Araghchi or other top Iranian officials.
Pakistan has sought to position itself as a channel of communication between Tehran and Washington, with Munir emerging as one of the key figures involved in the diplomatic push.
