Report: U.S. to dispatch warships, marine expeditionary unit to Hormuz
It's understood U.S. is not considering to chaperone ships through the strait until the Iranian threat is further reduced, which is expected to take a month

The U.S. is dispatching warships and a Marine expeditionary unit and more warships to the Middle East, as the Islamic regime in Iran steps up its attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth greenlit a Centcom request for an element of an amphibious ready group and attached Marine expeditionary unit, which typically consists of several warships and 5,000 Marines, the report cited U.S. officials as saying.
It us understood that even once the reinforcement arrives, U.S. forces are not expected to begin escorting vessels until the threat from Iran is further reduced.
The officials cited an estimated timeline for this scenario, saying it's expected to take up to a month or more, even amid intensive U.S. military strikes on Iran's arsenal of missiles and drones.
