Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to send Syrian fighters to Yemen in the coming months during their meeting in Riyadh this week, a Syrian political source told Qatari-owned Al-Modon. According to the report, al-Sharaa raised the possibility of Syria joining the “Mecca Alliance” of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. He also sought Saudi help in weaponizing Syria’s army, asking Riyadh to press Pakistan to supply weapons and facilitate direct arms talks with the Pakistani army.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree postponing Palestinian legislative elections until September 2027, the same date he set for presidential elections. According to WAFA, the Palestinian News and Information Agency, the decision is a result of the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the absence of a non-Hamas police force. Rubio called the attacks reprehensible and said that they demonstrated a "blatant disregard for innocent civilian life."

Sec. Rubio additionally reaffirmed America's commitment to Saudi Arabia and called for the attacks to cease.
