Zelensky: Ukraine sent drone experts to defend US bases in Jordan
Zelensky says team dispatched after Washington request amid expanding regional war with Iran

Ukraine has sent interceptor drones and a team of drone specialists to help protect United States military bases in Jordan as the conflict with Iran spreads across the region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with The New York Times.
According to Zelensky, the United States requested assistance on Thursday, and the Ukrainian team departed the following day. The group of experts was expected to arrive in the Middle East shortly after its departure.
“We reacted immediately,” Zelensky said during an interview with The New York Times on Friday evening while traveling by train from eastern Ukraine to the capital, Kyiv. “I said, yes, of course, we will send our experts.”
The deployment includes interceptor drones designed to counter aerial threats, according to the report. The Ukrainian specialists have experience defending against Iranian-made Shahed drones, which Russia has used extensively during the war in Ukraine.
