Ra'am party Chairman Mansour Abbas announced on Monday that former MK Yoav Segalovitz will become the first Jewish candidate to appear on the Arab party ticket. Abbas extolled Segalovitz as one of the key contributors to the reduction in crime in the Arab community during the 2021-22 government. During a press conference, Abbas explained his decision to select Segalovitz, saying, "I'm not looking for someone like me. I'm looking for someone who knows how to do the job. And the Arab citizen who buried his son doesn't ask what the policeman's religion is." Segalovitz is the only Jewish politician with a positive rating in the Arab community.
Meanwhile, Israel finalized its largest-ever defense agreement, signing a $3.5 billion security partnership with Greece to install the Achilles’ Shield air-defense program. The agreement was signed in Tel Aviv by Israeli Defense Ministry Director General Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram and Greek defense procurement chief Yannis Boras. The planned network will incorporate several Israeli systems, including Rafael’s David’s Sling and Spyder platforms and Israel Aerospace Industries’ BARAK MX. US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation after about 18 months in the role, citing months of conflict with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The White House called Driscoll, 41, "highly effective" in advancing Trump's agenda and praised his leadership during military operations.
Driscoll, the youngest-ever Army secretary, became known as Trump's "drone guy" for his embrace of emerging battlefield technology, and previously played a leading role in talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
The Army Secretary is the latest in a string of senior military departures under Hegseth, who has fired more than a dozen senior officers since taking office.
