Famous Israeli model Shlomit Malka embraces Judaism
‘She has actually come closer to religion and seems happy and fulfilled’
Famous model and Israeli television host Shlomit Malka recently approached Judaism and started to observe Shabbat, according to sources.
It is in New York, where she has recently moved to embark on an international career, that the 29-year-old model initiated this change.
“Shlomit follows all the rules of Shabbat: she does not talk on the phone, does not go out and does kiddush,” said people close to her.
"She's always been very spiritual. She's actually moved closer to religion and seems happy and fulfilled," one source specified.
A few months ago, Shlomit Malka, whose parents are from Morocco and Ukraine, posted a message on social media wishing her followers a pleasant "Shabbat Shuva" - Jewish Shabbat days on which special events are commemorated and the Jews are repenting their wrongdoings - with a quote from famous spiritual leader Rabbi Kook.

According to Judaism, Saturday - Shabbat - is a day off during which it is forbidden among other things to work, use electricity or means of transport. Many of these rules are generally difficult to observe while working in the fashion industry, which requires availability, regardless of the day of the week.
Shlomit Malka, who divorced Israeli actor Yehouda Levy less than a year ago after four years of marriage, has been the face of campaigns for Chanel, Lancôme, Ralph Lauren and Bershka. In 2013, she entered the ranking of the ten highest paid models in Israel.
