European Parliament denounces incitement to hatred in Gaza's school textbooks
The EP resolution calls for stringent conditions on educational aid to the Palestinian Authority and development of educational materials devoid of anti-Semitic content and incitements to violence
The European Parliament (EP) has taken a decisive stance against the incitement to hatred present in school textbooks produced by the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
In a resolution adopted on April 11, the EP strongly denounced the content of these educational materials, which propagate animosity towards Israelis.
The EP's resolution highlights the role of European taxpayers' funding in the production of Palestinian Authority textbooks, acknowledging their contribution to the radicalization of individuals in Gaza. The resolution specifically links this radicalization to the tragic events of October 7, 2023, when Hamas and other terrorist groups launched attacks that resulted in casualties and hostages in southern Israel and Gaza.
Emphasizing the direct impact of hate education on Israeli security and the future prospects of young Palestinians, the EP resolution calls for stringent conditions on educational aid to the Palestinian Authority. It demands the development of educational materials devoid of anti-Semitic content and incitements to violence.
Furthermore, the EP calls for a redirection of funding allocated to UNRWA, citing "credible reports" implicating some UNRWA employees in the October 7 atrocities. The resolution advocates reallocating resources through trusted channels such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), or reputable humanitarian organizations.
