Israeli FM Sa'ar travels to Germany for an official state visit
Sa'ar will meet with German leaders to discuss economic and research partnerships as well as the fight against antisemitism

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar is in Germany today as part of a state visit. He will meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Bundestag President Julia Klöckner, and German Foreign Minister Johann Waddepol. The meeting with Waddepol will be the eighth that the ministers have held in the past year. Afterward, the two counterparts will hold a joint press conference.
Other officials Sa'ar is expected to meet are German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, the German representative for the fight against anti-Semitism, Dr. Felix Klein, the German Minister of Research, Technology, and Space Dorothy Baer, and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Armin Laschet.
In a statement, the Israeli Foreign Minister says, "Strengthening ties with Germany and ongoing dialogue with it are central to our foreign policy."
In addition to these formal government meetings, Sa'ar will also meet with the leaders of the Jewish community in Germany. He plans to visit the Holocaust memorial site at Platform 17 at the Grunewald train station. The train station was used by the Nazi regime as a transit point for Berlin Jews to concentration and extermination camps.
