Two Latvian men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested inside RAF Molesworth on Tuesday. Both men are UK residents and were arrested when Ministry of Defence Police spotted their abandoned vehicle.

After the vehicle was identified, local police were called in to support the search, leading to the discovery of a small breach in the perimeter fence.

At 2 a.m. on Thursday the two men were found and arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a prohibited site and criminal damage. They were then taken to a Cambridgeshire police station where they were further arrested on suspicion of violating the National Security Act 2023, in this case, entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK.

This is a separate incident from the suspected terror attack at RAF Fairford. All seven suspects in that case were arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts but were subsequently released on bail.

The investigation into the RAF Fairford incident is ongoing, with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham saying that there were strong indications that Iran was involved.

The incident led US President Donald Trump to withdraw the B-1 bomber squads stationed in the UK.

Questions about security at RAF bases in the UK have been raised since five members of, now banned, group Palestine Action broke into RAF Brize Norton in 2025 and sprayed paint into the engines of two RAF Voyager aircraft in protest against the UK government's stance on Gaza, they said.

Following the Brize Norton incident, Palestine Action was banned as a terrorist organization following a parliamentary vote. The ban was initially overturned but was eventually reinstated by British courts.
