Two IDF soldiers injured, two Palestinians killed after West Bank car-ramming attack
Two Palestinian assailants were killed by Israeli security forces on Monday after they were suspected of a car-ramming attack at an intersection in the West Bank that seriously injured one Israeli soldier.
An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson on Sunday night said two Israeli soldiers were injured in what is being considered a terror attack near the Kafr Nama village northwest of Ramallah.
Assailants in a vehicle ran over a number of IDF soldiers who had stopped at the side of the road on their way out of the village, the statement said. In response, troops fired towards the vehicle, killing two Palestinians and lightly injuring a third.
"An initial investigation revealed that the attack was a terror attack," the IDF said in a statement.
“Terrorists rammed their vehicle into a number of soldiers who had stopped by the side of the road at the entrance to the village," the statement said.
The Palestinian health ministry named the two men killed as Amir Mahmoud Darraj and Yussef Anqawi, both 20.
The IDF soldier seriously injured in the car-ramming was taken into surgery on Monday morning.
The IDF also claimed that the suspects of the car-ramming attack had earlier in the evening thrown Molotov cocktails at an intersection adjacent to road 443 which cuts through the West Bank.
An Israeli Border Police officer was lightly injured in the incident and was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but has since been released.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said hours after the attack that he would take action to see that the homes of the assailants were demolished as soon as legally possible.
“We will do everything to speed up the demolition of these murderers’ homes just like the murderer of Ori Ansbacher,” Netanyahu charged, referring to the Jerusalem teenager raped and murdered last month.
“I gave an instruction to speed up the demolition of these homes within the parameters of the legal system,” the premier said. “We are determined to continue our struggle against murderers and against terror.”
Shortly after the attack, Hamas praised the "heroic martyrs" and called on Palestinians to participate in a mass funeral ceremony "to express the rejection of the crimes of the occupation and the shedding of the blood of our people."
The Gaza-based Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Monday morning accused Israel of war crimes that "violate the right of the Palestinian people" for the death of the two Palestinian suspects.
An official of the militant group said the "executions" of the men "shot in cold blood...reflects the reality of the Palestinian people and its situation resulting from the continuing suffering and the existence of the [Israeli] occupation."
The mayor of the Kafr Nama said the troops were leaving the village on foot after an operation to arrest a Palestinian suspect.
He also said he did not know the identities of the Palestinians allegedly involved and said they might have come from outside the village.
