Israeli NBA trailblazer: Liron Fanan named G League basketball executive of the year
Israeli executive Liron Panan has made history after being named Executive of the Year for the 2025–26 NBA G League season, becoming the first woman to receive the honor

Liron Fanan has been named Executive of the Year for the 2025–26 NBA G League season, becoming the first woman and Israeli ever to win the award.
Fanan, who serves as general manager of the Cleveland Charge, earned the recognition after leading the team to one of its most successful seasons. The Charge matched a franchise-best 31 wins and finished among the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Under Fanan's leadership, the team topped the league in assists and ranked near the top in offensive efficiency and shooting. She also helped propel seven players to the NBA, with signings from teams including the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Sacramento Kings.

“Liron’s leadership and relentless work ethic were critical in building our winning culture,” said Koby Altman of the Cleveland Cavaliers. “This is not just a professional achievement—it’s a historic moment.”
The daughter of former Maccabi Tel Aviv figure Moni Fanan, Fanan has rapidly climbed the ranks since joining Cleveland in 2018. After rising through key roles, she was appointed general manager in 2023.
Now, with a record-breaking season and a historic award behind her, Fanan is widely viewed as a strong candidate for a future executive role at the NBA level—marking yet another barrier broken.
