Russia launches massive aerial barrage on Ukraine overnight
Romania confirmed that debris from a Russian drone fell in the southeastern city of Galați, causing minor damage

Russia launched one of the most extensive air assaults of the conflict overnight, deploying a staggering 619 drones and 47 missiles against targets across Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Ukrainian defense systems were heavily engaged throughout the early hours of Saturday morning, successfully intercepting 580 drones and 30 missiles.
Military officials identified the central city of Dnipro as the primary target of the multi-pronged barrage, which utilized a combination of Iranian-designed Shahed drones and cruise missiles.
The scale of the attack triggered security alarms in neighboring Romania, a NATO member state. The Romanian Ministry of National Defense confirmed on Saturday morning that fragments of a Russian drone were recovered in the southeastern city of Galati, located near the Ukrainian border.
While the ministry reported no casualties on Romanian soil, the falling debris caused localized damage, striking an electricity pole and a household annex.
In Dnipro, emergency services are currently on the scene assessing the impact of the strikes. Preliminary reports indicate that while the city bore the brunt of the offensive, with at least 18 people injured.
