Burundi plans to join the International Stabilization Force in Gaza
Several countries, including Uganda, Morocco, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Albania, have already committed to participating in this mission
Burundi could soon deploy soldiers to the Gaza Strip as part of the international stabilization force, according to several officials quoted by the Associated Press. A Burundian military delegation traveled to Israel last week to discuss possible participation in the mission established under the Board of Peace.
No final agreement has yet been reached, but a BoP official says the discussions are progressing. “We have shared important knowledge, and the representatives from Burundi have expressed their interest in our mission,” he said on condition of anonymity.
A Burundian military official also told AP that three high-ranking officers were a part of the delegation sent to Israel and that Bujumbura seemed determined to join the force. Uganda, whose representatives also traveled to Gaza with the Burundian delegation, is finalizing the details of its participation following the approval of the deployment by its Parliament. Kampala has committed to providing approximately 1,200 soldiers.
Burundi would thus join several countries that have already announced their participation in the force: Morocco, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Albania. Rabat is planning up to 500 soldiers, while Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Albania are expected to provide a total of about 80 personnel.

Last month, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement including, in particular, the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. According to the plan presented, the International Stabilization Force is to be deployed in areas administered by a future Palestinian technocratic committee.
Its mission notably includes monitoring the ceasefire, training Palestinian police officers, and securing the delivery of humanitarian aid.
