Source close to Board of Peace says IDF forces are positioned along original Yellow Line and monitoring of compliance with Sharm El-Sheikh agreement is beginning
Israel is already committed in practice to the Gaza roadmap and ceasefire despite claims made during Thursday’s Cabinet meeting that it had not approved key elements of the plan, a source close to the Board of Peace told i24NEWS on Saturday.
The comments follow i24NEWS reporting from the Cabinet meeting, including warnings by Shin Bet chief David Zini about the roadmap and the agreement with Hamas, as well as claims that Israel had not approved the entry of the international force, signed off on implementing the Gaza roadmap or committed to a two-week ceasefire.
“Talk is one thing, actions are another. In practice, Israel has completely halted its attacks and is maintaining a full ceasefire,” the source told i24NEWS.
The source also disputed claims that Israel is currently holding 65% of Gaza. According to the source, IDF forces and military positions are in practice positioned along the original Yellow Line, covering roughly 53% of the Strip, and not beyond it.
“Through its actions, Israel is implementing the 15-point roadmap, which in practice adopts the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement that led to the release of the hostages,” the source said.
“The Board of Peace is beginning close monitoring to ensure that all sides comply with the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement and the roadmap,” the source added.
