Israel confirms search for body of Ran Gvili is ongoing in northern Gaza


The IDF's statement rejects Hamas’s claim that it provided Israel with the information on the location, saying that the terrorist group merely confirmed already known information.

Israel Defense Forces was conducting a “large-scale operation” in northern Gaza to locate the remains of Ran Gvili, the last hostage yet to be returned, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The search operation began over the weekend, with a Muslim cemetery in northern Gaza at the center of the effort.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit called on the public to "refrain from spreading rumors and unsubstantiated reports, which may harm the Gvili family and the ongoing efforts to bring him home."

Gvili’s family has urged the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to enter the ceasefire’s second phase until his remains are returned, amid U.S. and international pressure to move forward with the implementation of the plan put forward by the administration of President Donald Trump.
