Israel: Elbit Systems wins contract to open pilot training center in Europe
The contract will be effective for a period of nine years, with an option to extend for an additional 10

Israeli defense company Elbit Systems announced on Sunday that it has won a contract worth around $96 million to open a helicopter flight training center in Europe.
The company, which did not specify the European country it will do business with, also said that it would establish a maintenance service to train Air Force and Navy teams.
The contract will be effective for a period of nine years, with an option to extend for an additional 10 years for maintenance services.
The training center will provide helicopter pilots and crews with multi-level training, the company said in a statement.
Moreover, it will make it possible to perform realistic tactical training simulations using all helicopter systems in the context of a wide variety of mission scenarios.
The program "will use unique technologies and operational experience already acquired with the company's combat aircraft tactical mission training centers," said Yoram Shmuely, general manager of the aerospace division of Elbit Systems.
"This contract underscores the growing importance military forces are placing on harnessing proven technologies to improve training while reducing costs," he added.
