Hamami is currently being interrogated by the UAE after initially being detained by Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, Hamami planned to kill Captain Smit Machchhar and take control of the plane unnoticed before crashing it into Ben Gurion Airport.

Machchhar's bravery in opening the cockpit door even after having been brutally assaulted saved the lives of everyone aboard and those on the ground.

Machchhar is currently recovering in the UAE after being stabilized in Saudi Arabia, where the plane made an emergency landing.
