Miki Zohar asks Shin Bet to investigate Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor for alleged treason
Zohar said "it is very possible" that following a Shin Bet investigation, more serious crimes could be uncovered and that the NAZA filmmakers may end up in prison
Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar told i24NEWS on Wednesday that he asked the Shin Bet to investigate NAZA filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor over alleged treason.
"I think these two committed an act of treason," Zohar said. "I began taking action today by contacting the head of the Shin Bet and asking him to investigate the matter."
Zohar said the Shin Bet would be investigating how the pair acquired the information in the film and, in particular, whether they received information from Hamas or from soldiers in violation of their security clearances.
"Taken together, all of these things amount to acts of treason," he said. "These creators essentially acted in a way that we would describe as a breach of loyalty to the State of Israel."
Zohar said he believed this justifies revoking their citizenship and that neither could remain Israeli citizens.
Zohar continued, saying that "it is very possible" that following a Shin Bet investigation, more serious crimes could be uncovered and that they may end up in prison.
He pointed to Section 11 of Israel’s Citizenship Law, which describes the process of revoking citizenship. He tempered this by saying, "Of course, we need to prove that they did so, and I think there is a way to prove it."
Zohar said that in his view this was an open-and-shut case but that he would wait for the full Shin Bet investigation.
