IDF chief holds forum marking 1,000 days of combat, says its a 'strategic crossroads' moment in the war
Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir gathered senior commanders for an assessment forum that opened with a moment of silence and a recording from the start of the October 7 massacre

IDF Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a multi-arena intelligence, operational, and strategic assessment on Monday, marking 1,000 days of combat, gathering members of the General Staff Forum, division commanders, and additional commanders for a commanders' forum.
The conference opened with a moment of silence for the fallen, followed by the playing of a recorded radio transmission from Col. Asaf Hamami from the beginning of the October 7 massacre. A panel discussion featuring commanders from the front lines followed.
"Today we are holding a multi-arena operational, intelligence, and strategic assessment, marking 1,000 days of combat," Zamir said. "These days, we find ourselves at a significant and strategic crossroads in this war." He described the past 1,000 days as "one of the longest, most complex, and most demanding wars we have ever known," saying the IDF has accumulated operational and command experience "unlike anything the IDF has accumulated since its establishment."
Zamir said the October 7 massacre was an assault on the very existence of the Jewish people and called on the assembled commanders to continue drawing lessons from the conflict. "Memory is not only about the past, but it sharpens our awareness every day of the responsibility placed upon us and prepares us for the future," he said. "This war has changed methods of warfare, operational concepts, and the way we operate. We remember, we learn, and we prepare for the continuation of the combat and the many challenges that lie ahead."
Zamir also stated that the IDF remains committed to Israel's civilians, who he said look upon the military "with criticism, with appreciation, and with great love."
