IDF conducts extensive military exercise in Eilat developing 'tactics learned from October 7'

The IDF launched a large-scale exercise in Eilat and along the eastern border on Monday.
The exercise is being led by the IDF’s 80th Division and is intended to strengthen the operational readiness of forces under 'extreme scenarios' and a surprise attack. The military said the drill was developed using lessons learned from the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023.
All units in the division are participating alongside the Israeli Air Force and Navy, in coordination with other security agencies.
Residents and visitors are expected to see increased movements of troops, military vehicles, aircraft and naval vessels in and around Eilat. The IDF stressed that the activity was planned and said there was no immediate security threat in the area.
The exercise follows a surprise drill launched Sunday dubbed 'Breaking Dawn 2.0' under the direction of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.
That exercise mobilized forces from across the military and simulated simultaneous fighting on seven fronts.
Scenarios included infiltrations into northern and West Bank communities, attacks near border barriers and the Azrieli complex, rocket fire targeting strategic sites, and operations to clear attackers from Gaza border-communities like Tze’elim and Sderot.
