IDF preparing for Hamas kidnapping attack on yellow line outposts
IDF troops have been ordered to be at maximum readiness in the event of a kidnapping attack by Hamas
Israel is preparing for a scenario in which Hamas will attempt to carry out a kidnapping attack, Yossi Yehoshua, military analyst for i24NEWS and Yediot Ahronot learned Monday evening.
The IDF has been directed to be fully prepared for an attempted kidnapping attack by Hamas on soldiers statione don the Yellow Line.
Hamas are looking to halt IDF and Shin Bet operations against them that are being carried out on a daily basis. Hamas beleives that if it acts now, Israel will be unable to act until after the US elections in November.
Senior commanders in each unit were instructed a few days ago not to leave the area, and to conduct readiness and vigilance tests among the troops under their command.
This announcement reinforces what Defense Minister Israel Katz threat from last week that the abduction of a sinfle Israeli would lead to the total evacuation of Gaza.
The statement also confirms the need for the Southern Command's alert level to remain very high.
