Israel prepares for the Iran war to continue at least another month - report
Officials say the extended timeline is linked to US military plans and efforts to weaken Tehran's leadership

Israel is preparing for the war with Iran to continue for at least another month, longer than originally planned, according to an Israeli source cited Monday in a report by Israel's Channel 12.
According to the report, early expectations in Jerusalem were that the campaign would last only a few weeks. Israeli officials now believe the fighting could extend significantly beyond that timeframe due to ongoing military objectives and broader efforts to weaken Iran’s leadership and security structures.
The Israeli source said the prolonged timeline also reflects US military planning in the region, including preparations connected to the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Israeli officials understand that US efforts related to the waterway could take at least another month and say Israel intends to continue operating alongside American forces while the campaign is underway.
The source added that Israeli officials see signs of internal disruption in Iran and are seeking to deepen pressure on the Iranian leadership. According to the report, Israel believes further military action could create opportunities for changes within the Iranian leadership structure, while officials say they still hope to carry out additional "surprising actions."
US President Donald Trump addressed the conflict during a press conference on Monday.

"Our powerful military campaign to end the threats posed by the Iranian regime continued in full force over the past few days. They have been literally obliterated. The Air Force is gone. The Navy is gone. Many, many ships have been sunk; they're war-fighting ships. But I guess they didn't know how to use them. And anti-aircraft is decimated. Their radar is gone, and their leaders are gone. Other than that, they're doing quite well."
Trump also called on NATO countries whose economies depend on the Strait of Hormuz to assist in securing the vital maritime corridor.
"Numerous countries have told me they're on the way. Some are very enthusiastic about it, and some aren't," he said. "Some are countries that we've helped for many, many years. And we've protected them from horrible outside sources. And they weren't that enthusiastic" the president added.
