Israel used AI and hacked cameras to track Khamenei before strike- report
A Financial Times report says Israel tracked Ali Khamenei using hacked traffic cameras and artificial intelligence, mapping his movements and routines before the precision missile strike that killed

Israel reportedly leveraged hacked traffic cameras and artificial intelligence to monitor Ali Khamenei in the lead-up to his killing during Operation Roaring Lion, according to the Financial Times.
The Israeli operation mapped Khamenei’s routines in detail, tracking his movements, daily schedules, and the identities of key officials surrounding him. This extensive surveillance allowed planners to pinpoint the optimal time for a precision strike on his compound.
According to the report, the strike involved 30 Sparrow missiles and was conducted in daylight to maximize tactical advantage, while local cellular networks were disrupted to prevent Iranian security forces from receiving warnings. U.S. intelligence, including information from the CIA, helped confirm Khamenei’s location at the moment of the attack.
The Financial Times notes that Israel had been focusing on Iran as a top security priority since 2001, following directives from former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, with Mossad playing a central role. Advanced AI and data analysis were used to sift through vast amounts of information, enabling planners to anticipate Khamenei’s movements and minimize collateral damage.
