New safety initiatives will include the completion of necessary enforcement mechanisms and regulatory measures designed to enhance the state's ability to counter unauthorized drone activity

Defense Minister Israel Katz convened an emergency security meeting Wednesday night to address the growing threat posed by drones operating within Israel, as the government moves to formulate an immediate national response to the emerging security challenge.
The high-level meeting brought together senior officials from across Israel's defense and security establishment, including National Security Adviser Shmuel Ben Ezra, Head of the Defense Ministry's Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D) Brig. Gen. (Res.) Dr. Danny Gold, representatives from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and other senior security officials.
According to officials to i24NEWS, the discussion focused on the evolving nature of the domestic drone threat and examined a range of operational, technological, and regulatory measures aimed at improving Israel's ability to detect, prevent, and respond to unauthorized drone activity.

Participants reviewed existing capabilities and explored options to strengthen the country's defenses against increasingly sophisticated drone operations, which security officials described as a growing concern.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz are working in coordination with Israel's security establishment and relevant government ministries to advance an immediate and comprehensive national plan to address the threat. The initiative will include the completion of necessary enforcement mechanisms and regulatory measures designed to enhance the state's ability to counter unauthorized drone activity.
Officials said the objective is to deliver a rapid and effective response to what they characterized as a growing and significant threat to the State of Israel and its citizens.
