Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Wednesday met with US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter in London.
A statement from the Ministry of Defense said that the two discussed a series of strategic and security issues on the agenda between the two countries.
Secretary Carter also accepted an invitation from Liberman to visit Israel later this year.
The meeting was described as friendly as comes as Israel and the US are in talks in talks over a new multi-billion-dollar military aid package.
The Obama administration has promised to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would “constitute the largest single pledge of military assistance to any country in US history.”
The US has reportedly insisted on an offer of $3.5 billion to $3.7 billion per year, lower than the $4 billion a year Netanyahu requested, but still a significant increase over the previous package.
There was no indication as to whether the package was discussed by Liberman and Carter in their meeting.
