Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon blamed Friday’s stabbing attack outside Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate on the Palestinian Authority’s payment to terrorist families.

“The payments made by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and their families encourage heinous attacks like we saw today,” Danon said. “The Palestinian leadership continues to pledge their support for peace, while making monthly payments to terrorists and educating their children to hate. The international community must demand that the Palestinians put an end to these intolerable acts of violence.”

“I call on the Security Council to condemn this terror attack immediately,” Dannon added.

Danon's comments come after a 23-year-old Israeli border policewoman was fatally stabbed outside Jerusalem's Old City on Friday. Security forces on  the scene gunned down three suspected Palestinian assailants.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld wrote that Staff Sergeant Hadas Malka, 23, "suffered critical injuries and was taken to a Jerusalem hospital, after several hours she died of her wounds."

The Shin Bet Israeli security service named the three assailants as Mohamad Salah, Adel Hassan Ahmed Ankush and Osama Ahmed Mustafa Ata, all between the ages of 19-18. The statement added that all three had been arrested in the past on terror-related suspicions.

Police said all of the assailants were from the Palestinian city of Ramallah. All three were shot dead by security forces.

Last month, Danon held a special session at the UN on the topic of the PA's funding for terrorist families at UN Headquarters in New York. The session was organized by Israel's special mission to the UN and by the pro-Israeli organization StandWithUs.

"We call upon the UN Security Council to act in order to put an end to the support of terror," Danon said during the session, emphasizing that "according to Palestinian law, every Palestinian that is convicted of murderer and jailed receives a monthly salary. The more Jews he kills – the more years in jail he receives, the higher the salary he receives from the Palestinian Authority. A terrorist who is sentenced to 30 years in prison gets more than 3,000 dollars a month."
