Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Monday his vow to apply sovereignty to areas in the West Bank.

“We have the July date as the goal and we don’t intend to change it. We will act rationally and by combining forces,” Netanyahu told Likud members after the party had convened for the first time since the general election in March, outlet Ynet reported.

He further commented on the coronavirus crisis, addressing the next steps the government should undertake in the coming months.

“We must prepare for a possibility of a second wave that will be much deadlier,” the premier said, according to Ynet.

“I think we all welcome the great success of Israel [in curbing the pandemic],” the premier said. “Our number of infections is marginal, a few infections per day at the moment. It is a remarkable result. We are in a good situation, but it could be temporary as the virus is still here.”

On the financial front, Netanyahu pledged to inject a six billion shekels ($1.7 billion) package aid into the economy, emphasizing the “enormous task” of the government to bring back the jobs that were lost due to the coronavirus crisis.
