Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, and US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz held a trilateral summit on Tuesday in New York aimed at strengthening commercial ties between Israel and Morocco.

During the summit, the three nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Israel-Morocco relations, including upgrading diplomatic ties, elevating the status of diplomatic missions in both countries to full embassies, and appointing ambassadors.

Israel and Morocco also agreed to finalize agreements on investment protection and the prevention of double taxation by the end of 2026. These agreements are aimed at boosting investment and fostering deeper economic ties.

Moroccan airlines are expected to begin operating direct flights to Israel in the coming weeks.

Israel thanked the US for enabling the trilateral summit and its "steadfast pursuit of peace and security" that helped strengthen Israel-Morocco relations.

"The friendship between the Moroccan people and the Jewish people has deep roots and a glorious history. The declaration we signed today outlines practical ways to upgrade ties between Israel and Morocco for the benefit of both peoples, and we will work diligently to implement it," Sa'ar said.
