France has drafted a proposal to end the hostilities between Israel and Lebanon that includes a recognition of Israel by the Lebanese government, Axios reported citing three sources familiar with the matter.
The Lebanese government has okayed the plan as a template for peace talks, it is understood, amid fears that the renewed war — triggered by Hezbollah's rocket attacks on Israel — could further devastate the cash-poor, crisis-hit country.
The French ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a denial, saying no "French plan" for ceasefire and recognition of Israel by Beirut exists.
