Israeli MK Eitan Ginzburg becomes latest politician to leave the Blue and White party
Ginzburg's departure follows that of MK Hili Tropper, who left the party at the beginning of the week

Israeli Knesset member Eitan Ginzburg announced Tuesday he is leaving the Blue and White party, becoming the latest in a string of departures that have left the faction fighting for political relevancy ahead of Israel's upcoming elections.
Party leader Benny Gantz summoned Ginzburg to a meeting after receiving information that the Blue and White secretary-general had been holding talks with other parties. According to the party, the contacts were driven by concerns over Ginzburg's political and economic future. During the meeting, Gantz allegedly gave Ginzburg an ultimatum to declare his political intentions by noon.
Ginzburg had previously met with Gantz to inform him he was weighing a departure, with reports indicating he was exploring a move to the Together party formed by the merger of former PM Naftali Bennett and opposition leader Yair Lapid. Blue and White issued a pointed statement following Ginzburg's departure, saying, "Blue and White is a home for people who believe in the path and are loyal to it, even when it is difficult."
Ginzburg took to X to release a statement of his own. In a lengthy message, Ginzburg criticizes the current government, saying the Knesset deteriorated into "an abyss," claiming it "no longer operates for the public." While he did praise Gantz, Ginzburg also called out the party's position, saying, "The ability of the political framework in its current form to continue to bring about the change needed in the country has diminished."

His exit makes him the fourth MK to leave Blue and White in recent months, following Matan Kahana, Orit Farkash-Hacohen, and Hili Tropper. Tropper was among the first figures Gantz recruited when he entered politics, yet following his departure, he said he could no longer "realize his worldview" within the party's current framework. These departures come as Blue and White has repeatedly failed to clear the electoral threshold in recent polls, raising serious questions about the party's viability and Gantz's political future.
