American comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien announced he would be arrive in Israel in an ambiguous, but cheeky tweet poking fun at the imminent visit of the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to the Jewish state in attempts to renew peace negotiations.
The tweet shortly followed the White House’s confirmation of the visit. In response to a Time magazine article titled, “President Trump sends Jared Kushner to help broker a peace deal,” O’Brien wrote: “#BREAKING: Conan O’Brien sends Conan O’Brien to Israel to help Jared Kushner.”
“Stay tuned,” O’Brien added with the hashtags #ConanIsrael and #ConanWithoutBorders.
Twitter followers were initially unsure if the redheaded funny man was just making a joke, but Israeli media later reported that O’Brien is expected to arrive in Israel at the end of the month to shoot a secretive special for his TV show.
The trip was kept under wraps by O'Brien's team until the Saturday night announcement.
Israel's Ynet reported that he is planning to stay for five days during which he will film his program, which airs on the US channel TBS, throughout the country.
The website added he had retained a local production crew.
